An abstract oil painting with a black background with a simple human-like portrait of someone or is it a robot with mechanical square parts, eyes closed shutting out the world or self-reflecting? Life is symbolised by the plants. Multi-coloured dots sparsely placed on the painting. Listen to the artist Sinead Smyth who talks about her inspiration for this unusual yet very attractive painting.
Sinead's work is based largely on an emotional response from her surroundings, her observation of nature, people and landscapes. She may re-interpret her experiences into real or imagined landscapes or into portraits of imaginary people.
This piece is part of the Moment of Lights exhibition (17th August 2020) at the Puffin Gallery, Ballycastle. We invite you to listen to Sinead's motivation and inspiration into creating this piece whilst Sinead would love you to share your own response to the painting.
Oil on board
Dimensions (unframed): 60 x 70 cm
A meaningful painting to refer to and reflect upon.
